Every year tens of thousands of Iranians leave Iran to make asylum applications in Western countries. Iranian asylum seekers are the second largest group seeking refuge in the UK according to Home Office figures. It is important to understand why so many people leave Iran, how the Islamic Republic’s government views and handles this and other important issues that the UK authorities must be aware of. |
